Founding Objectives
The founders originated from the highest ranks of South Africa’s military, security and law enforcement agencies, all seasoned experts within their respective fields.
Their vision was to utilise their unique expertise to provide an elite protection service for a league of clientele requiring a level of safeguarding superior to that offered by traditional security organisations.
Brand Origins
In determining a name for their company, the founders sought to identify with one of history’s finest elite protection units with whom they wanted their reputation associated.
The “schola” of ancient Rome provided the perfect legacy to emulate. They were the most senior of the heavy cavalry units forming the core of the Roman Imperial Army and also the elite military guard regiment assigned to protect Julius Caesar.
“Vetus” is the Latin word for old, longstanding or ancient. Hence, by pairing the two words, “Vetus Schola” was founded, depicting the “Legacy of Ancient Elite Protection Unit”.
Company Logo
Similarly, the founders sought a company logo that would depict the qualities required of Vetus Schola protection operatives that would symbolise their dedication to the protection of their clients. They found these in the ethos of the ancient Spartans, widely considered to be the greatest warriors of all time. They had one of the most impressive organised militaristic cultures in the history and were known for their courage, resilience and determination.
The Spartan warrior helmet depicted in the logo symbolises our commitment to these values and ideals. Our tagline “The Legacy Endures” suggests that the legacy of the greatest warriors of all time lives on through the courage, honour and skills of our operatives.
“The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding go out to meet it.” – Thucydides, Greek Historian.
